The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================== Submitted by Shelley Lynch on 28Jan2007 Anita Burris 1921-2007 Anita Burris was born at Wild Horse Prairie near Zeb, OK. on December 6, 1921 the daughter of Arthur and Dora Lankford and died Thursday, January 25, 2007. She was raised in the Fort Gibson and Muskogee area where she also attended school. She met the strength and love of her life, Horace, at the Muskogee Fair Grounds in 1939 and married in Wagoner, OK. in the middle of the night where they had to wake up a judge they knew. For 1939 to 1955 they raised eight children. She was preceded in death by her twins, Terry and Jerry Burris; her parents, Arthur and Dora Lankford; one sister, Dorene Fain; one great-grandchild, Juley Nichole Dishman; one son, Tony Burris and her husband, Horace “Pony” Burris. She is survived by children, Emmett and Ann Burris of Muskogee, Jim and Jackie Burris of Muskogee, Judy and Stoney Ballard of Fort Gibson, Pat Lively of Fort Gibson, Betty and Fred Igert of Briggs, OK., Billie and Bob Thompson of Muskogee, Nancy Jean Burris of Muskogee; David and Cathy Burris of Muskogee; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren all of the Muskogee and Fort Gibson area; a host of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the First Baptist church in Fort Gibson with Pastor Fred Igert officiating. Pallbearers will be Sheriff Charles Pearson and Honor Guards, Raymond Barnes, Martin Lang, Hazel Love, Raylee Spears, Joe Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandson, Matthew Rowdy Lott. Burial will be in Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Fort Gibson. A dinner will be served at the Thunderbird Realty office at 2002 Gibson Street in Muskogee after the service. Everyone is welcome
