Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *************************************************************** TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS TAHLEQUAH, OK APRIL 23, 2002 DEAN ALBERT JOHNSON Tahlequah---Funeral services for Dean Johnson, 78, of Tahlequah, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2002, in the First Evangelical Free Church of Tahlequah with Pastor Josef Tschirhart officiating. Interment followed in Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of Green Country Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Joshua Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Dale Fultz, Chris Vincent, Gary Walker and Tim Merilatt. Dean was born Oct. 25, 1923, in Barnes, Kansas, the son of Jay and Hazel Johnson. He went home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2002. Dean married Evelyn Glazner on May 1, 1942, in Bloomfield, N.M. They lived in Cahone, Co., and spent the following 16 years farming. He accepted the Lord as his savior on June 21, 1953, and his life dramatically changed. God gave him a real desire to serve the Lord. In 1959, he left his farm and moved to Shawnee, Kansas where he attended KC Bible College. After working in the post office for about 12 years, he and his wife moved to Tahlequah, where they served at Markoma Bible Academy for 10 years before retiring. Dean was a master craftsman with wood; building houses, furniture, shelves, yard ornaments and many other crafts, which he shared with his family. He also enjoyed working in his yard and garden, as well as hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Tahlequah, where he served in a variety of positions and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Ruth Kelker. He is survived by his wife of 59 years; three children, Sharron Fultz and husband Dale, of Bagley, Minn., Del Johnson and wife Karen, and Janet Johnson all of Tahlequah; six grandchildren, Sahri Vincent and husband Chris, and Marcie Fultz, all of Aurora, Neb., Lori Fultz Peichowski of St Joseph, Minn., Joshua Johnson and wife Vannessa, of Hulbert, Denise Johnson and Dustin Johnson and wife Amber, all of Tahlequah; five great-grandchildren, Samantha and Benjamin Vincent, Jessica and Caleb Piechowski, and Connor Johnson; a sister, Carol Faye Boles and husband Daryl, of Fredonia, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones. Memorial may be sent to the First Free Evangelical Church of Tahlequah.
