Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *************************************************************** TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS TAHLEQUAH, OK APRIL 24, 2002 DON GENE EUBANKS Tahlequah--Funeral services for Don Eubanks, 64, of Tahlequah, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2002, in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cleatus Johns [Jones] officiating. Pastors David Walker and David White will be assisting. Interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Green Country Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Doyle Gower, Gray Dewayne Shankle, Brent Gower, Brad Eubanks, Brandon Eubanks, Bobby Hayes, Joey Gritts, Mitchell Kelley and Bryan Womack. Honorary pallbearers will be Rep. Jim Wilson, Greg Henry, Leonard Walker, Troy Walker, Danny Walker and Tuson Westmoreland. Don Eubanks was born May 10, 1937, the son of Ella Katherine Johnson and Clyde Monroe Eubanks in Lawton. He departed this life on April 21, 2002, in Tulsa. Don grew up in Missouri along the Mississippi River before attending college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. On Sept. 10, 1963, Don retired from the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge. He had been the administrator and song leader for the Eternal Jubilee Church of Park Hill. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 15 and Disabled American Veterans. Don loved to play the guitar and sing. He also enjoyed writing {his} own music. Don liked to visit and travel and he loved his grandchildren. He also enjoyed politics and once ran for District 4 State Representative. Don was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bill, Lawerence and Sherman Eubanks. He is survived by Rosie Walker Eubanks, his wife of 42 years, whom he married on Oct. 5, 1959. He is also survived by seven children, Linda Hayes and husband Jimmy, Teresa Gower and husband Claude, Gary Ryals and wife Rozella, Phoebe Gene Shankle and husband George, Shelia Stacy and husband Vernon, all of Tahlequah; Michel Eubanks and wife Linda of Tulsa and Don Allen Eubanks and wife Velva, also of Tahlequah; two brothers, Cletis T. Eubanks of Choctaw and Allen Peck of Marlow; two sisters, Cleta Peck of Marlow and Clyde Ellen of Oklahoma City; many grandchildren and a host of friends and family members. There will be a family meal at the Come and Dine Church in Tahlequah
