Delbert Comstock, Rev. Roy Parnell and Rev. H.J. Ford officitating. Burial will follow in the Starnes Cemetery. Dorothy J. Peebles was born Dec. 23, 1950 in Bakersfield, Calif., the daughter of Van Meigs and Susie Daisy Hubbard Peebles, and she passed from this life on Saturday, August 17, 2002 in Houston Texas. She was a 1969 graduate of Tahlequah High School. She worked 22 years in the traffic office at Midwestern Nursery and the last 10 years at the Cherokee Nation Women, Infants and Children program. She was a member of the Union Full Gospel Church. She enjoyed her family and spending time at their activities. Dorothy was preceded in death by her father Van in 1990. She is survived by her mother, Susie Peebles; four sisters, Frankie White, Ruth Taylor and husband James, Rose Mary Philpott and husband Jack, and Nancy Keys; two brothers, Van Lee Peebles and Carl and Kathy Oldefendt all of Tahlequah; nieces and their spouses, Lana Medlock, Melissa and Matthew Walls, Alicia Keys, Brenda and Rick Smith, Beverly Williams and Jessica Oldefendt; nephews and their spouses, Craig and Waynita Philpott, Dustin and Brandi Philpott, Terry Don and Carrie Keys, Billy and Christie Keys, James and Kori Taylor, Danny and Jaci Taylor, Josh Oldefendt and Brad and Gina White. Her nephews and Kenny Barnes will serve as pallbearers. --------------------------------------------------------- This is my very close first cousin. She was 8 months older than me and we were in the same grade in school, her having been born too late to start before I could. She was a very special person. She never married but was a surrogate mother to all her nieces and nephews.
