Services were under the direction of Hart Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers were James Green, Douglas Scott, G.L. Coppedge, Ricky Green and Kevin Statham. Effie McGowin was born March 31, 1912, in Tahlequah and departed this life Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at her home in Broken Arrow after reaching the age of 89. Effie loved to be outdoors; she enjoyed fishing, working in her flowerbeds and spending time in the vegetable garden. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas "Jack" McGowin; one son, Calvin McGowin; her parents, Bert and Florence Johnson; three brothers and two sisters and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Dawn McGowin. Survivors include three daughters, Maxine Green of Bixby, Lavenia Morris of Broken Arrow, and Lorine Clark and husband Kevin, of Tulsa; one sister, Eulah Conley; three grandsons, Doug Scott and wife Anne, Rickey Green and wife Sharon, and Thomas McGowin and wife Kathy; two great-grandsons, Skyler McGowin and T.J.Green; very close friends Ruby Coppedge of Broken Arrow and Robert Sisco of Tulsa; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones.
