Ernie was born in Claremore, OK on August 6, 1948. He was a proud Marine of the 3rd Division, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines and a Vietnam Veteran. While serving in Vietnam, he received the following honors: Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a citizen of the Muscogee Creek Nation. He graduated from Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and the University of Tulsa. Ernie married Leona Wickson on September 7, 1966. Ernie loved to serve the community and was an active volunteer for disabled veterans. He was an avid pow-wow dancer and a natural entertainer. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife Leona; a son Ernie Tiger, Jr. and his wife Ellen; a daughter Carmen Hastey and her husband Reed; a daughter Yonne Tiger; four grandchildren: Ernie Tiger, III, Ashley Willson, Kyle Willson, Jaden Hastey; sisters: Doris Unap, Delores Unap, Ruth Green, Carlene Barrett; and brothers: Jerry Bales and Floyd Bales. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with burial services to follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
