Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. *************************************************************** Submitted by: Kay Hubbard Thompson TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS TAHLEQUAH , OK FLORENCE IRENE HAMBY Funeral services for Florence Irene Hamby, 82 of Welling, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 8, at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Duvall officiating. Burial will follow at the Manus Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Chris Hamby, Bret Hamby, Keith Leatherman, Carnie Caughman, Joe Ford and George Lillard. Florence Irene Hamby was born July 17, 1919, in Cherokee County, the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Hubbard) Brock and passed from this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in Tahlequah. Florence was one of nine children. She grew up and attended school at Welling. She was married to Carl Hamby Feb. 3, 1935, in Welling. Florence was a member of the Welling General Baptist Church. She held many jobs in the area, including the Salvation Army and Harmons Cafe. Mrs. Hamby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed reading, cooking, taking care of children and feeding anyone who was hungry. She was preceded in death by her parents; all her brothers and sisters; and grandsons Wayne Robinson and Mark Hamby. She is survived by her husband of the home; daughters Melba Seymour and husband Bill of West Columbia, Texas and Vivan Holt and husband Walter of Angleton, Texas; sons Estel Hamby of Park Hill, and Don Hamby and wife Donna of Tahlequah; grandchildren Sherry Qualls, Chris Hamby, Bret Hamby, Gail Trahan, Justin Hamby, Christopher Hamby and Tabitha Hamby. She leaves behind nine great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
