SUMMERLIN TAHLEQUAH-Funeral services for Gladys R. Summerlin, 93, of Tahlequah, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 16, 2002 at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home with the Rev. Bernell Rogers and the Rev. Erick Goodman officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of the Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Steve Jones, Tim Jones, Curt Mefford, Bill Lamons, J.L. Denny and Bob Mahan. Gladys Rozella Summerlin was born Jan. 30, 1908, in East Saint Louis, Ill., the daughter of Clarence and Clara Bequette, and she passed from this life on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 in Tahlequah. Gladys moved to Yellow Hammer, near Gore, when she was 15 years old. She was married to George Summerlin Sept. 9, 1946, and they moved to Cherokee County in 1948. Gladys had worked at the Muskogee School for the Blind for several years. She was a loving mother, wife and homemaker, and she was famous for her cooking. She cooked on a wood-burning stove and her apple pie was a favorite. Gladys was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Tahlequah. She was preceded in death by her first husband A.L. Box, and husband George Summerlin who died Dec. 27, 1998. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Pearl (L.C.) Curtis of Tulsa, Audrey (Sid) Redfern of Armona, Calif., and Dorothy (Roy) Tribble of Stockton, Calif.; two stepdaughters , Shelia (H.D.) Ratliff of Tahlequah and Frela Morse of Fort Gibson; four stepsons, Harold Dean Summerlin of Golden Mo., Gearld (Bernie) Summerlin of Cabot, Ark., Donald (Pauline) Summerlin of Fort Gibson, and Roy Dale (Reba) Summerlin of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great granddaughter, 16 step-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other relatives, loved ones and her extended family at the Cherokee County Nursing Home. Reed-Culver Funeral Home 117 W.
