Harry Hix Sr., 88, a resident of the Go Ye Village Christian Retirement Center, died Friday, Oct. 28, at his home following a lengthy illness. Services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Go Ye Village. Burial with military honors will follow at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Rev. Hix was an Army veteran of World War II. Rev. He moved to Tahlequah in 1980 after retiring as an associate professor of photography at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he taught for 23 years. In Stillwater, he was a bi-vocational pastor, serving as pastor at The Gospel Center, Diamond Valley Community Church, and for 15 years, at The Church of the Open Door, which he helped found. He was involved in several ministries during his retirement years in Tahlequah. For several years, he was active in the First Evangelical Free Church before helping found The Community Bible Fellowship church two years ago. He also preached frequently at the Go Ye Village, the Gospel Rescue Mission in Muskogee, and for 10 years under sponsorship of the Go Ye Mission, he preached and counseled in a prison ministry, primarily at the John Lilly Correction Center at Boley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edyth Jane Seavy Hix, who died in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Loretta, of the home; three sons, Harry Hix Jr. and his wife Carol of Stillwater, Harold Norman Hix and his wife Kathy of Tacoma, Wash., and Hubert Hix and his wife Julie of Minneapolis; three daughters, Sue Wheeler and her husband Earnest of Osage City, Kan., Nancy Duncan and her husband John of Skiatook, and Anna Bridgewater, of Sasakwa; one niece, Judy Henderson of Friendswood, Texas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of The Community Bible Fellowship in care of Leon Friend, 1201 E. Fourth, No. 417, Tahlequah. Okla. 74464.
