"Bucky" Howard, 73, of Tahlequah, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Holland Cemetery with Rev. Bill Parker officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home and the casket will remain closed for the graveside services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Jimmy was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Tahlequah to James Henry and Margie Rebecca (Craft) Howard and he passed from this life on Thursday, Sept. 13, in Tulsa. Bucky was reared in Cherokee County and later met and married Billye June Corn on May 3, 1948, in Van Buren, Ark. He had worked for Brockway Glass in 1948-'49. He was sections foreman for Midland Alley Railroad and the Santa Fe Railroad. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII with the Pacific fleet. They moved to California in 1952 and he retired in 1989. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Jane Purkey and Jeanette Byrd; and his twin brother, Johnny Arthur Howard. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; two daughters and their husbands, Sheryle Leigh and Richard Garner of Tahlequah, and Jimmye and Dan Murphy of Tulsa; one son, Jimmy G. and wife Robbie Howard of Needles, Calif.; one brother, Jack O. Howard of Goffs, Calif.; one sister, Wilma June Nance of Stilwell; two uncles, Fred Howard and Evert Howard; one aunt, Very Howard; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins and friends.
