He was born April 22, 1924 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Floyd and Ada (Courdory) Spencer. James married Marie (Satterfield) on May 1, 1943. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage. James was a retired Muskogee Fireman, and a retired Plumbing Contractor. James also served in The United States Army. He loved raising and racing quarter horses. James was preceded in death by his parents, one son James Edward Spencer, one sister and three brothers. He is survived by his wife Marie of the home, two sons Carl and Cheryl Spencer of Muskogee, Billy Joe and Betty Spencer of Warner, daughter-in-law, Linda Spencer of Wayne, OK; one brother, Floyd Jr., and one sister Christine of Alma, Arkansas; Eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2007 at Citizens Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, with Rev. Loren Welch officiating. Pallbearers will be Muskogee Fire Department Honor Guard. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
