Burnett J.P. Burnett, born July 21, 1922 in Peavine, to Charles E. and Nora (Dawson) Burnett, passed from this life June 7, 2005, in Tahlequah, at the age of 82. While honorably serving his country in the U.S. Army, J.P. received the Marksman Rifle and the Combat Infantryman Badge, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service medal and the Purple Heart. J.P. was a retired maintenance man from the Northeastern State University water department. He is preceded in death by his parents, C.E. and Nora Burnett; two sisters, Grace Jamison and Thora White; two brothers, James Burnett and Lonnie Burnett; and two infant brothers. J.P. is survived by his wife Jackie; two daughters, Judy Sears and husband Jess and Donna Hutchins and husband Alan; one son, Roger Burnett and wife Bettie; five grandchildren, Angela Christine Kessler and husband Ronnie, Dustin Matthew Sears, Jonathan Cody Sears, Brent Alan Hutchins and wife Lisa Beth, and Scott Landon Hutchins; four great-grandchildren, Melanie Kessler, Josie Kessler, Conner Kessler and Landon Alan Hutchins; one sister, Eunice Chumley; two brothers, Carl Burnett and Oliver Burnett; many extended relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2005, in Tahlequah City Cemetery Gazebo, with Rev. Max Harvey officiating. Services are under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Casket bearers will be Dusty Sears, Cody Sears, Brent Hutchins, Scott Hutchins, Ronnie Kessler and Chuck Hix. Honorary casket bearers will include Hix, Bobby Hix, Tommy Hix and Gary Hix.
