He left this life to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at his home at the age of 55 years after a lengthy battle with cancer.John was a truck driver and had served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974 aboard the US Midway. John loved playing the drums in a blues band in his spare time and spending time on Lake Tenkiller. He had toured with several bands, including Bad Ax, Mountain Air, Nice Brothers and most recently, The Cat Daddy’s out of Dallas, Texas.He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Melton in 1992.He is survived by his wife, Debbie Barnes Melton; a son, Ian Melton of The Colony, Texas; stepchildren, Carolyn Clark of Tahlequah, Leslie Clark of Tulsa and Randy Wade and wife, Robin, of Tahlequah; his mother, June Melton of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister, Margaret Waltrous and husband, Victor, Alan of Fort Wayne, Ind.; brother, Larry Melton and wife, Shirley, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; grandchildren, Jordan and Henry Clark, Morgan and Darran Bird, Kevyn Jordan, Trenton Harris and Ryan Wade; special friends, Loyd and Betty Meeks; along with other extended family and friends.A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the Elks Lodge
