Roy Lee Neel Tahlequah --- Roy Lee Neel, 57 of Tahlequah died Thursday (3 March 1988). Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7,1988 at Grace Baptist Church in Tahlaquah with the Revs. Robert Dewoody and Renus Warren officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery in Peggs with Reed-Culver Funeral Home in charge. Pallbeares are Sonny Baker, Don Steele, Buck Kimbrough, Johnny Baker, Jim Sego Jr. and Jack Warren. Neel was born Sept 12, 1930, in Peggs to Callie and Willora Neel. He was raised in Peggs and attended school at Oak Hill. He later attended auctioneering school in Iowa. He was a longtime local resident and Horseman. For many years he was a supporter and member of American Quarter Horse Association. He was actively involved in the breeding, raising and training of American Quarter Horses. He raced frequently at Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw. He recently celebrated his 22nd wedding anniversary and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert in 1986 and Jay in 1974. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; three step sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Wing of Tahlequah, Carl and Sandy Wing of Broken Arrow, and Denise and Karen Wing of Tulsa; Three step daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Randy Robinson of Tulsa, Debbie and Kelly Garrett of Park Hill and Linda and Sam Garrett of Albuquerque, N.M,; Three brothers, Bert Neel of Riverside, Calif., Ollie Neel of Long Beach, Calif and L.C. Neel of Bibxy; two sisters, Jewell Van Osdol of Riverside, and Geraldine Crawford of Muskogee;a sister-in-law, Billie Wing, of Peggs; a brother-in-law, Leonard "Buddy" Hood, of Peggs; 18 step grandghildren; several nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
