Pallbearers will be Steve Cook, Gary Cook, Darrell Byfield, Troy Lee Eubanks, Jimmy Byfield and Lyle Tolbert. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lloyd Elkins, Clarence Huggins and I. B. Branscum. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Fort Gibson. Mr. Byfield was born June 8, 1921 at Inola, Oklahoma the son of Otis and Jennie (Lasater) Byfield and died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Muskogee. On May 9, 1942 he married Ima Wilson in Fort Gibson. From 1942 to 1945 he served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of the Fort Gibson Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Ima of the home; two children, Jean Cook and husband, Ronnie of Fort Gibson, Billy Lee Byfield of Fort Gibson; four brothers, Charles Byfield of Tahlequah, Russel Byfield of Fort Gibson, Allen Byfield of Fort Gibson, David Byfield of Tahlequah; three sisters, Mae Rowan of Fort Gibson, Florene Eubanks of Fort Gibson, Pauline Watkins of Muskogee; five grandchildren, Barbara Travis of Kansas, Steve Cook of Fort Gibson, Gary Cook of Fort Gibson, Heather Orman of Muskogee, Racheal Dunn of Bartlesville; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler Cook, Kacy Cook, Kevin Cook, Zane Cook, Ashley Green, Savana Alexis Dunn, Madison Orman and Alexis Orman. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bud Byfield; five sisters, Lizzy, Odie, Frances, Elsie and Emma.
