All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat 29 Jan 2005 Earl O'Neal Allen, 77 Services for Earl O'Neal Allen, 77, formerly of Durant, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at United Methodist Church Chapel at Ardmore. The Rev. Robert Gorrell and the Rev. Dan Patman officiated. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home of Ardmore. He was born Feb. 4, 1927, in Kenefic to Oliver and Anabel Williams Allen. He died Jan 21, 2005, at his Ardmore residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Olavine Hausey. He married Mary L. Evans Feb. 17, 1950, in Hugo. He was a graduate of Durant High School and Southeastern State College. He taught many years at Ardmore High School and was head of the guidance counselors. He was a licensed Realtor and taught real estate classes at Southeastern at night. He was retired. He was a member of Ardmore First United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Survivors include his wife Mary, of the home; daughter Susan L. Fox, Tampa, Fla.; sons Mike O. Allen, Gainesville, Texas, and Mark O. Allen, Carrollton, Texas; brother Byron L. Allen, Andrews, Texas; sister Margaret Haddock, Liberty; and granddaughters Courtney Fox and Daisy L. Fox, both of Tampa, Fla. He was an avid fisherman and loved all sports, but most of all he loved his granddaughters. Pallbearers were Harry Dodd, Charlie Smith, Marshall Mills, Woody Jackson, Enoch Watterson, Theron Price and Stan Key. Honorary bearers were Bill Lewis and Veterans of Foreign Wars member of Post No. 4574.
