Anderson-Meissner, a longtime resident of Healdsburg, died Feb. 10 of pneumonia and lung disease. She was 83. Anderson-Meissner moved to Healdsburg from Grant, Okla., in 1946. She was one of seven children. She worked at the Western Auto store for 10 years before she and her husband went into business for themselves. She was the proprietor of T.V. Mart for 25 years until her husband, Walter C. Meissner, died in 1981 and she closed the business. Later she met and married Ivan "Lefty" Anderson, owner of Anderson Jewelry in Healdsburg. She was diagnosed with lung disease about 10 years ago. She had breakfast every morning at Bob's Donut Shop despite growing concern for her health. "When she set her mind to something she could do anything. She was not only a self-starter but she taught herself everything she knew," said her daughter, Patricia Bean of Healdsburg. "She came from a generation of hard workers. She worked six days a week and rested one." Anderson-Meissner enjoyed making trips to Reno, Nev., for a game of poker. And until six years ago she would go to the horse races at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds every year. In addition to her daughter, Patricia, she is survived by another daughter, Lydell Rotlisberger of Healdsburg; a brother, Don Hopper of Modesto; and four grandchildren. No services will be held. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Choctaw County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/choctaw/choctaw.html
