Ballard, Walter Thomas 

DUMAS - Walter Thomas Ballard, 87, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. 
Jerry Clark, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by 
Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, in Amarillo.

Mr. Ballard was born in Boswell, Okla., and had been a resident of Dumas 
for more than 50 years. He retired in 1974 from the shipping department of 
Continental Carbon in Sunray. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

He married Maudie Nell Cole in 1932 at Hollis, Okla. She died in 1986. He 
also was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Ballard, in 1944.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Ballard of Nacogdoches, Bob Ballard of 
Hedley and Don Ballard of Cedar Park; two sisters, Myrtle Weightman of 
Dumas and Edna Ballard of Bakersfield, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four 
great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 116 Armstrong.

The body will be available for viewing Monday from 9 a.m. until service 
time at the church.
