Bentley, 89, of Amarillo and a former resident of White Deer, died Sunday, May 31, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy, minister of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in White Deer Cemetery with graveside rites by the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Bentley was born in Swink, Okla., and moved to White Deer in the 1920s. He retired in 1974 after more than 37 years as plant superintendent for Dorchester Gas Producing Company. He moved to Amarillo in 1974 where he was a member of Tascosa County Club. Mr. Bentley was a Baptist. He was past president and zone chairman of the White Deer Lions Club and past president of the White Deer School Board. He was a member and past worshipful master of the White Deer Masonic Lodge No. 1188 AF&AM. He married Ethel Simmons in 1932. She died in 1996. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Imke. Survivors include a son, David Bentley of Lubbock; two daughters, Linda Peirce and Beverly Bentley, both of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas, 79174; or the White Deer Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 273, White Deer, Texas, 79097; or the Texas Boys Ranch in Lubbock.
