All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park--Colleyville TX Brock, Lela Bell Day Lela Bell Day Brock, 97, a cherished mother, grandmother and friend, quietly slipped away peacefully to join her Lord and loved ones in heaven on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Roanoke with grandson, Chuck Morrow, officiating. Bearers of her casket will be her grandsons. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Lela was born Dec. 9, 1908, in Tokio. She found enjoyment in the simplest things of life and she lived life to the fullest. She was a blessing to her family with her legacy of love and exemplary behavior in how to live a full and meaningful life. Lela was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke and enjoyed attending "pickin' and grinnin'" and senior potluck lunches at Roanoke Community Center. Lela loved spending time with her family, painting, playing games, cooking, sewing and singing around the piano while sharing family stories. We will miss hearing her playing the harmonica and singing old songs. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and other caregivers at Baylor Hospital Grapevine, Samaritan Hospice and, especially, Mimosa Manor at Keller for their tender care. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eula Lee Day Adair; her father, John Samuel Day; her brothers, Sam, Raymond, John Arlie and Wesley Day; and sisters, Bessy Wausen and Pearl Mathis; great-grandson, Shawn Elliott; granddaughter, Nancy Lee; daughter, Stella Sparks; and husband of 44 years, Ernest Clifford Brock. After her husband's death, she moved from Hugo, Okla., back to Roanoke to be close to family and friends. Survivors: Daughters and their husbands, Vertalee and John Coleman of Roanoke, Ellen and Bob Lovett of Amarillo, Jean and Frank Morrow of Valliant, Okla.; son, E.C. Brock and wife, Linda of Justin; sisters-in- law, Alpha Brock of Roanoke, Mary Bell Brock of Fort Worth and Yvonne Day; 18 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
