The Grand Dame of her family, Rogenia was born a farmer's daughter in Hugo, Oklahoma on July 5, 1916. During her 91 year run, she survived the Great Depression, The Dust Bowl, and two World Wars. During her early years, she and her 6 sisters and 4 brothers helped out on the family farm. She later married Carson Ross and had three boys - Arlis Myrl Ross, Clifford Lynn Ross, and Wendell Carson Ross. She later married Bannon Brown and they had Karen (Brown) Hale. Throughout all of these years, she worked hard - and she would have had it no other way. While in Stratford, Oklahoma, she worked in and owned restaurants. Upon relocating to Scottsdale, Arizona in the mid 1950's, she began a career in retail. She stayed in Scottsdale the next 50 years making great friends and continuing to add to her ever-growing family. There was never a moment when Rogenia wasn't involved with something. After retiring from Flagg's of Scottsdale at the ripe old age of 74, she set out on her great retirement adventure. These were truly her golden years. She spent this time traveling, shopping, visiting with friends and family, and . . . oh yes, spending time in her favorite casinos! Later known for her love of the one-armed bandit, Rogenia financed many a vacation with her winnings. As recent as two days prior to her passing away, she could be heard letting people know that she likes to go to the casino two or three times per week. This fun past-time was really more about being with people though . . . and that was what she loved more than anything. If you'd like to share one more visit with Rogenia, please join us at Messinger's Mortuary in Scottsdale on Thursday, November 8 from 6pm to 8 pm for visitation. Her funeral will be held at Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford, Oklahoma on November 10 at 2pm. Rogenia is survived by her sons Arlis Myrl Ross and Wendell Carson Ross, step-son Myron Lee Brown, daughter Karen (Brown) Hale, five grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Such an amazing light and life - we will miss you terribly Rogenia!
