Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel 2615 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Mrs. Canida was born in Clarksville and moved to Hall County in 1939. She helped her husband farm and was a homemaker. She retired as a waitress in Memphis and moved to Amarillo in 1996. She married Wheeler Canida in 1929 at Hugo, Okla. He died in 1957. She also was preceded in death by two sons, James Canida and W.C. Canida, both in 1998. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Collins of Wichita, Kan., and Clara McCauley, Naydean Hill and Imogene Merrill, all of Amarillo; three sons, Charles Canida of Amarillo, Ronald Canida of Kaufman and Robert Canida of Dallas; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice.
