Falla, Marjorie Estelle

Marjorie Estelle Falla Sept. 14, 1925 - Jan. 26, 2007 Resident of 
Rossmoor Marge was born in Casper, Wyoming to Edward and Daisy 
Bailey. She moved with her parents to Boswell, Oklahoma at the age of 
9. Marge was a child of the Depression, and like many of her 
generation learned to appreciate the simple things that many of us 
today take for granted. After graduating from Boswell High School, 
she attended Northeastern State Junior College in Wilburton, 
Oklahoma. She received her BA from Oklahoma State University in 
Stillwater. She was trained as a clinical lab technician at Charity 
Hospital in New Orleans. It was then that she moved to the East Bay 
and worked at UC Berkeley and later Highland Hospital. Marge was 
married in 1957. She and her husband lived in Mexico City for a year, 
then settled in San Juan, Puerto Rico where her three children, 
Jeanne, Danny, and Joyce were born. The family returned to the Bay 
area where Marge raised her children and resumed her career at 
Highland Hospital. She eventually retired as the supervisor of the 
Blood Bank. Marge had a passion for doing things well. It was evident 
in all that she did. She designed and patented a product (Pre-Dent) 
that insured the accuracy between patient identification and blood 
samples. She was an accomplished artist. When she was not at home, 
she could be found in the ceramics studio at Rossmoor. She loved 
pottery, carving gourds, wood burning and quilting. Her work has been 
included in the art exhibits at Rossmoor and she was the featured 
artist in the Rossmoor paper. After her retirement, Marge traveled to 
many parts of the world, including Japan, Canada, the Southwest, 
Hawaii, and a cruise down the Rhine. Marge enjoyed her family, and 
her life was enhanced by the many friendships that developed during 
her time in the Rossmoor community. She especially treasured the time 
she spent with her two grandsons. Her ex-husband, Walter Falla, 
preceded Marge in death. She is survived by her three children, 
Jeanne Falla (Walnut Creek), Danny Falla (San Diego), Joyce Baculpo 
and her husband, Lerek (Concord); and two grandsons, Kyle and 
Nicholas Fassbinder (Concord). She also leaves behind a sister, 
Laurice Cuculich (Merced); and a brother, Walton Bailey (Pampa, 
Texas); and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 
at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2007 in the Diablo Room at the 
Hillside Clubhouse at Rossmoor in Walnut Creek. Arrangements by the
