Fort, 96, of Ottumwa, Iowa, a former Amarillo resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Melvin Suttle of San Jacinto Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery's Garden of Last Supper. Mrs. Fort was born in Indian Territory. She married Robert Lee Fort in 1916 at Boswell, Okla. He died in 1938. She also was preceded in death by a son, Billy W. Fort. She moved to California in 1942 and was the supervisor of school cafeterias in Mojave, Calif. After retiring from the school district in 1965, she became a leader with the Girl Scouts. She was a member and church social director and coordinator of First Baptist Church of Mojave. Survivors include two daughters, Irene Page and Idas Sherrill, both of Amarillo; three sons, Eugene J. Fort of Lancaster, Calif., and Charlie R. Fort and Melton L. Fort, both of Ottumwa.; 18 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; and 10 greatgreat-grandchildren.
