All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Fort Towson Cemetery--Fort Towson OK Lawton Constitution 08 Jun 2003 Elva "Dink" Peebles FORT TOWSON — Funeral for Elva "Dink" Peebles, 84, Fort Towson, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Corinth Baptist Church, Fort Towson, with the Rev. Troy Ruffin and the Rev. Bennie Hammonds officiating. Mr. Peebles died Friday, June 6, 2003, at his residence. Burial will be at Fort Towson Cemetery under direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home, Hugo. He was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Klondike, Texas, to R. P. and Bead Earthman Peebles. He lived in Fort Towson most of his life. He married Gladys Davis on Nov. 23, 1942, in DeQueen, Ark. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and worked as a concrete finisher and as a caretaker at Fort Towson Cemetery, Spencerville Cemetery, Sobol Cemetery and Swink Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters: Jean Setzer and husband Jim, Lawton, Elvie Jo "Sissie" Peebles and companion, Rocky Jones, Fort Towson; a sister, Ruth Goodwin, Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren: Lanette Davis and husband David, Blue Ridge, Texas; Troy Logan and wife Annette, Swink; J. D. Setzer and wife Brenda, Walters; and Don Setzer and wife Christin, Geronimo; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Aubry Fuller and Allie Stanford, and two brothers: Pascal Peebles and Charlie Peebles.
