Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Bible Baptist Church of Dumas with Jerald Chadwick, close family friend and pastor of Central Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating and Rick Korsmo, pastor of Bible Baptist Church of Dumas, assisting. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Robertson was born Nov. 30, 1932. She had been a Dumas resident since 1951. She was born to Lester and Birdie McDougal in Fort Towson, Okla. Following the death of her father at an early age, she was raised by her Daddy Claude Key. She was a very committed homemaker and mother. She and her husband, Shorty, were loving, hard-working, devoted parents who considered it their duty to instill a sense of faith, purpose, honesty and responsibility in their children. She later worked outside the home as a secretary/dispatcher for a trucking company, as a salesperson in a jewelry store and as a desk clerk in a motel. Nixie was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Dumas and later a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas. After their retirement, Nixie and Shorty enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer and visiting with their extended family. Nixie had a special place in her heart for her Shetland sheepdogs. She was a mother to almost everyone she met. Her generosity of spirit was unparalleled. We are all fortunate for having the experience of knowing and loving her. Survivors include her husband, R.L.; three daughters, Linda Hamlin of Mount Pulaski, Ill., Glenna Rummel and husband, S.D., of Fritch and Suzanne Roberts and husband, Glenn, of Springfield, Va.; a son, Tim Robertson of Dumas; a brother, John Key and wife, Donna, of Yreka, Calif.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; an aunt, Nellie Weathers of Valliant, Okla.; a nephew, Mike Key of California; many special cousins and friends; and her beloved four-legged friends, Heidi, Missy and Alex.
