All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Wood, Orville Wayne 1940 - 2005 Orville Wayne Wood, 64, went home Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at his residence. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mansfield Church of Christ. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Blessing Funeral Home. On Wednesday, Wayne achieved the greatest glory of his life. God took him home. It is something he had worked for most of his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him. There is a big spot that will never be filled. He fought a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer but could not overcome it. Wayne was born to Calvin "Slick" and Clara Wood on July 16, 1940. He grew up in Boswell, Okla., and graduated from Boswell High School. He attended the technical college in Okmulgee, Okla., and graduated from there. Wayne worked for General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 1997 to pursue ranching and raising cattle. He has always loved to see the rewards of his hard work. Wayne came from a large and loving family who were always doing things together. He married the love of his life, Patricia "Pat," on May 19, 1962. They had three wonderful daughters in their 42 years of marriage. Survivors: Wife, Pat of Mansfield; daughters, Toni and husband, Charles Rutherford, of Itasca, Shannon Wood of Dallas and Cindy and husband, Jerry McDuff, of Paradise; grandchildren, Tatum, Chad and Chase Rutherford of Itasca and Heather and Audrey McDuff of Paradise; sisters, Ruby Smith of Cleburne and Lela Schorr of Bedford; brothers, Ray Wood of Mansfield, Clyde and Jim Wood of Boswell, Okla., and Alfred Wood of Arlington; a host of nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
