Goodpasture Expires At Home of Daughter, ILL But Short Time It was with some surprise that the news of Mr. Goodpasture's death on Sunday night, was received by the residents of Boise City. It seems but a day since the old familiar figure was seen coming across the wide expanse of Prairie from his daughter's home to greet his friends in the village square. Hiram Jefferson Goodpasture was born in Jacksonville , IL Oct. 20, 1845. His parents moved to Louisiana, Pike Co. MO when he was but seven years old. Here he grew to manhood and when the war broke out joined the Union Army and served his country faithfully for two years. He was married to Celia Ann Murphy in 1860 in Louisiana Pike Co. IL. Eight children were born to them, five of whom are still living, all in Oklahoma. The four sons, Alonzo B., Madison L., Colonel E. and Arthur L., reside in Garfield Co. , while the only daughter, Matilda Ann Kelley, lives just east of Boise City. Mr Goodpasture has lived in this county only a year , but during that time he has made many friends, and as long as his health permitted he made daily trips to town. He spent some time at the Soldiers Home in Vandalia, Kansas, before coming here. Mrs. Goodpasture preceded her husband to the life beyond in 1880 while still in Missouri. Beside the five children Mr. Goodpasture leaves twenty three grandchildren. James H. and Robert S. Kelley are both his sons-in-law. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gordon B. Carter on Tuesday afternoon and the interment was in the Boise City cemetery. This was typed as it was printed in the Boise City, OK Paper. Date of the paper : Jan. 21, 1909 Sunday was the 17th of Jan. 1909. His Civil War, military stone, bears the date of 1845-1914, but his date of birth was Oct. 20, 1840 and death, Jan. 17, 1909 .
