All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Willowbar Cemetery--Keyes OK Amarillo Globe News 14 Nov 1997 Velma Vivian McBride Godown KEYES, Okla. - Velma Vivian McBride Godown, 93, a former Keyes resident, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, in Albuquerque, N.M. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Keyes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Del Watkins officiating. Burial will be Saturday in Willowbar Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mrs. Godown was born in Fairfield County, near Covington. The family moved to Cimarron County and homesteaded about seven miles southeast of Keyes. Mrs. Godown graduated from high school at Goodwell. She married Joseph Arthur Godown in 1924. They lived in Keyes and later moved to Boise City, where she worked in the county clerk's office. She moved to Albuquerque in 1935 to be near her husband, who was in the Veterans Hospital. Mrs. Godown attended beauty college to become a beautician. She also worked in the Albuquerque post office. She remained active until the latter part of 1996, when she moved to the Presbyterian Pickard Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Albert Ray Godown and James Donald Godown; and her daughter, Dolores Arlene Godown Smith. Survivors include a son, David Godown of Albuquerque; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren.
