All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Llano Cemetery--Amarillo TX Amarillo Globe News 17 Aug 1997 Walter Gordon Walter Gordon, 73, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Blackburn -Shaw Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Marty Hamrick, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Gordon was born in Lawrence, Kan., and lived in Wichita, Kan. 10 to 15 years. He moved to Amarillo in 1977 from Boise City, Okla. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific. Mr. Gordon was believed to be among the youngest sergeants in the Marine Corps at the time. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Gordon of Amarillo; a daughter, Cathy Boote of Derby, Kan.; a son, Bill Luznicky of Dallas; a brother, Vernon Gordon of Wichita, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
