Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon and he was laid to rest in the Willowbar cemetery beside his wife who died in 1911. Mr. Vanaman shared the hardships of the early days, taking care of his family, being both father and mother to them. He was a kind man and good neighbor. His daughters, Mrs. Effie Poer and Mrs. Mattie McFarland of Grants Pass, Ore., and his sons, Homer and Harry were at his bedside and attended the funeral. One daughter, Mrs. May King, and son, Howard, of Eugene, Ore., were unable to attend the funeral. Additional information: His headstone and obituary say he died September 20, 1947, but his death certificate says he died September 21, 1947. He was born June 13, 1867 in White County, IN and married Martha Jane Fry May 22, 1892 in White County, IN.
