All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Portales Cemetery--Portales NM Amarillo Globe News 26 Aug 1998 Dorothy Dana Davison Hubbard LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Dorothy Dana Davison Hubbard, 93, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church at Portales with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom, Mike Kull and Dr. Claude Cone officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Hubbard was born in Zincite, Mo. She taught school in Boise City, Okla., before moving to Portales in 1926. She married Walker Hubbard in 1926. They were the administrators of the Baptist Children's Home at Portales from 1936 until 1971. From 1954 until 1971, they also served as administrators of New Mexico Boys Ranch near Belen. She did public speaking and letter writing in support of both organizations. Mr. Hubbard died in 1977. After his death, she moved to Belen, where she lived for 15 years before moving to Las Cruces in 1998. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church of Portales for more than 30 years and was active in the Portales Garden Club. Survivors include four children, Marvin Dale Hubbard of Agoura, Calif., Lee S. Hubbard of Las Cruces, Allan Dale Hubbard of Albuquerque and Bess Whitmore of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Lucille O'Hara of Las Cruces and Margaret Linton of Batavia, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
