All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Willowbar Cemetery--Keyes OK Amarillo Globe News 30 May 1997 Mrs. Cecil Ivie KEYES, Okla. - Mrs. Cecil Ivie, 91, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Keyes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Edminston, pastor of Panhandle Bible Center in Guymon, and the Rev. Leon Lothman, pastor of Living Word Fellowship in Guymon, officiating. Burial will be in Willowbar Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mrs. Ivie was born in St. Louis. Her family homesteaded to Cimarron County in 1912. They built a new sod home two miles from the Union Chapel Church. At the age of 18, she received a lifetime teaching certificate from Panhandle A&M College at Goodwell. She later graduated with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. Throughout her 27-year teaching career, she taught from first to 12th grade. She married Carlous Eugene Ivie in 1928 at Boise City. They lived on the family farm for many years and moved to California in 1936. They returned to Cimarron County in 1949 and moved into Keyes in 1978. They were charter members of Keyes United Methodist Church, and Mrs. Ivie was the church pianist for many years. Mr. Ivie died in 1996. Survivors include three daughters, Gwenllean "Gwen'' Adele Strasburg Moon and Laneta Paulene Ivie, both of LaPalma, Calif., and Carol Jeane Rhoton of Guymon; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandsons. A Cecil Ivie Memorial has been established for Dunaway Manor or a favorite charity. Memorials will be accepted at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, Okla. 73942. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.
