All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Bertrand Cemetery--Bertrand OK Opal Johnson FELT, Okla. - Opal Johnson, 93, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m Wednesday in United Methodist Church in Felt with Billy Rammage and Dean Cullop officiating. Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mrs. Johnson was born in Clarendon, Texas, and moved to Cimarron County in 1907 by railroad car and team-drawn wagon. She attended grade school at Bertrand and graduated from high school at PAIPAMC in 1923 at Goodwell. She also received a two-year elementary certificate. Mrs. Johnson taught at Delfin then moved to Phoenix. She graduated from business college in Phoenix and was a secretary with an insurance company. After two years, she returned to Cimarron County. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker and helped on the farm. A charter member of Felt United Methodist Church, Mrs. Johnson was the musician when needed. She was treasurer of the Mother's Club, organized the WSCS and organized fund-raisers for cafeteria equipment for the Felt School. In 1991, she moved to the Cimarron Nursing Home. She married Henry Johnson in 1929 at Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jo LaFave of Tulsa and Mabel Joyce Ogle of Felt; five grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. The family suggest memorials be to a favorite charity which may be left in care of the mortuary.
