All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Lambert, Olin Winfred August 6, 1921 - May 28, 2007 Patriot, loving husband, father, grandfather, community activist and friend, entered Post Everlasting, May 28, 2007, at age 85, in his Hawthorne home after participating in Memorial Day services earlier that day honoring our nation's heroes along with his beloved wife Ginny. Olin was a life member of both the Hawthorne Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2075 and Hawthorne American Legion Post 314. He was a four-time Commander of VFW Post 2075 (1975-76, 76-77, 84-85 and 2001-02). Never asked for anything for himself - only gave of himself in support of programs and projects that benefited veterans and their families, and his community. During the 35 years he lived in Hawthorne, Olin dedicated himself to improving the quality of life for everyone in his community through his active involvement in the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce; Hawthorne Presidents Council - which he helped form in 1975; as a member of the Hawthorne-Lawndale Board of Realtors; and as a charter member/founding director of the then Hollyglen Taxpayers Association. He quietly proclaimed his most satisfying accomplishment as serving as the campaign manager for his wife Ginny during each of her successful city council elections, starting in 1986. Raised in Felt, Oklahoma, he completed his schooling in Oklahoma before joining the Army Force in 1943. During his 20-year military career he performed a variety of duties including flight engineer, crew chief and training officer within the Strategic Air Command and later in the National Guard. He was a veteran of WWII, Korean and Vietnam Wars. As a crewmember on B-52s in the early 1960s, he flew 20 missions into Vietnam. Upon settling in Hawthorne in 1972, he worked for Western Airlines for 10 years. After retiring from Western airlines, he earned his real estate license and began working as a real estate agent specializing in residential and commercial sales.Olin is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ginny McGinnis Lambert; a daughter, Valerie Ruggero and her husband James and grandson Taylor Lambert Ruggero of Arizona; a sister Alma McKinney and her husband Earle of Denver, Colorado; and nieces, Vickie (John Ireland) and Sherie (Kenny Conway) of Colorado; as well as his stepdaughters, Kathy McGinnis Blair and Gina McGinnis Ewing. He was preceded in death by his first wife Inez, and son Norman in the late 1970s. Military memorial services honoring Olin will be held, Friday, June 8, 2007, beginning at 10 a.m., at Hawthorne VFW Post 2075, 4563 W. 131st Street, Hawthorne.
