All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Boise City Cemetery--Boise City OK Gladys Marie Summers BOISE CITY, Okla. - Gladys Marie Summers, 93, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Boise City Cemetery with David Peterson officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary in Boise City. Mrs. Summers was born near Mount Ayre, Iowa, and started school in Tingley, Iowa. In 1915, the family moved to Oklahoma City and later to Portales, N.M. They returned to Oklahoma City then moved to Cimarron County in 1917. She graduated from Cimarron County High School in 1925 and later took a business course. Mrs. Summers worked for the post office and the Johnson Motor Co., before being elected City Treasurer of Boise City. Later, she was employed by the Oklahoma State Extension Department. After her marriage, she lived in Felt until 1952 when the family moved to a farm in Gentry, Ark. She was a member of First Baptist Church. In 1960, she returned to Boise City. Mrs. Summers worked in Coly's Store and Palmer's Variety Store until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of First Christian Church. She married Roy Summers in 1935. He died in 1989. Survivors include four sons, Robert Summers of Texline, Chuck Summers of Boise City, Lee Summers of Siloam Springs, Ark., and John Summers of Lamar, Colo.; a daughter, Annabelle King of Boise City; 11 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and eight great- greatgrandchildren. The family suggest memorials be to a favorite charity which may be left in care of the mortuary.
