Smith - Editor & Publisher Page 1 ATTEND RAINBOW CLUB Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson attended a meeting of the Rainbow club, composed of members who served in the famour Rainbow division during the World War, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walker, northwest 48th street, Oklahoma City, last Saturday evening. The Johnsons will entertain the club at their home here on the evening of Saturday, May 9. Page 3 ATTEND CLUB MEET IN NORMAN Members of the Moore Home Builder's club who attended the meeting of the Federation at Norman the past week were: Mrs. Clyde Grimmett, Mrs. J.F. Dyer, Mrs. Elmer Mollman, Mrs. L.O. Dyer, Mrs. A.H. England, Mrs. Irvin Dyer, Mrs. Marion Collings and Mrs. Glen Luckcuck. The speaker at the morning session was Mrs. J.P. Mattox, of Oklahoma City, wife of Rev. J.P. Mattox, who is part owner of the Moore gin. INSEPARABLE COMPANIONS Like Mary's little lamb, the Messenger goes wherever Mrs. Minnie Meeks goes. She left the first of the week for a month's visit with her sister, Mrs. W.H. Winn, and her brother, O.A. Ritz, in McPherson, Kansas, and ordered the Messenger to be sent to her there. It will be. THREE BOYS A FISHING GO L.F. and Roy Platt and R.I. Dyer spent Saturday evening and all day Sunday at Medicine Park trying to persuade the finny tribe to grab their bait. Each succeeded in catching one sucker. Well, it wasn't a complete failure, anyhow. MAKES TRIP TO ANTLERS Roy E. Platt made a business trip to Antlers, Okla., last weekend. In fact, this is almost a regular stunt with Roy, who usually comes back with his truck loaded to the guards - with lumber. W.M.U. MEETING The Women's Missionary Union met Monday, April 20, with Mrs. O.B. Houchin as leader. The Royal Service Lesson was "The Pioneer Women of the Bible." Page 8 SOCIAL AND PERSONAL NEWS HOME BUILDERS' CLUB The Home Builders' club met Tuesday, April 14, with Mrs. Laurence Boone, with the following members on hand: Mrs. Marion Collings, Mrs. Irvin Dyer, Mrs. Alta Toombs, Mrs. A.H. England, Mrs. John England, Mrs. Eldon England and Mrs. J.F. Dyer. Roll call was responded to with miscellaneous quotations. Mrs. Irvin Dyer gave an interesting sketch of the History of Oklahoma. Mrs. Clyde Grimmett will be hostess to the club on Tuesday, April 28. MUTUAL BENEFIT CLUB Mr. C.E. Swihart entertained the Mutual Benefit club on Saturday afternoon, April 18th. Devotions were led by Mrs. Ray Moorman, and roll call was responded to by various items of interest. The Bible lesson was read by Mrs. S.P. Richardson and responsive readings by members. Illness prevented the attendance of Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. C.R. Bridgewater and Mrs. Emma Owen. Guests were Mrs. Windsor Antrim and daughters of Bethany. The club will meet with Mrs. Bridgewater and Mrs. Thomas as co-hostesses on Saturday, May 2. M. N. A. CLUB Mr. and Mrs. Dale Janeway entertained the M. N. A. card club Thursday evening of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson. High scores were won by Mrs. Shroyer and M.R. Dyer, low by Mrs. M.R. Dyer and Roy Platt. Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Crosley were guests. The club will meet with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson on Thursday evening, April 30. GARDEN FLOWER CLUB Mrs. A.R. Dreessen was hostess to the Garden Flower club Friday, April 17, at which Mrs. W.C. Swinney was the only guest. Roll call was current events. A very interesting paper on "What Points Are Essential to Transplanting?" was given by Mrs. E.C. Hall. Members present were Mrs. C.H. Brand, Mrs. J.F. Dyer, Mrs. R.B. Estes, Mrs. May Hewitt, Mrs. E.C. Hall, Mrs. Paul Johnson, Mrs. M.E. Jones, Mrs. Lott, Mrs. W.A.S. Matthews, Mrs. R.J. Reichert, Mrs. A.A. Smith, Mrs. A.J. Smith, Mrs. P.A. Shroyer and Mrs. A.B. Campbell. The club will meet Friday, May 1, when Mrs. J.F. Dyer will be hostess. PERSONAL MENTION E.V. Moore was a business visitor to Oklahoma City Monday Mr. S.G. Dyer returned the first of the week from a visit to his daughter, Mrs. L.R. Taylor, in Pampa, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Vaugh Emerson and Mr. and Mrs. Joel Helton were Monday evening guests of Mrs. Bertha Levering. Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Wilson and two youngest sons left last Friday on a combined business and pleasure trip to Altus, Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Shade and son of Los Angeles, Calif., are visiting with their relatives, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Shade and Mrs. Bertha Levering. Mr. and Mrs. George Dreessen and son Jr. of Seward, Okla., were Monday visitors at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Dreessen and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wynd. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Luckcuck, and daughters Beulah Mae and Margie, of Norman, and Mrs. Jack Harrison, of Oklahoma City were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Luckcuck. The editor spent the week end with Mrs. Smith in Oklahoma City. She is taking additional X-Ray treatments at St. Anthony's hospital. She is not making the improvement hoped for. James Keliey drifted in from Texas Tuesday afternoon, and will stay awhile. He has been traveling all over the lone star state for the past several months. Jim said he had the flu and thought he would come home and recuperate. Dr. J.E. Anderson has received word from his son-in-law E. E. Altfield, Tonkawa, that his grandson, Eldon, is very ill with pleurisy and that his condition is discouraging. Mr. Altfield is a leader in the Tonkawa Commercial College. Mrs. Iris Bohannon and son, and Mrs. Theron Bohannon and children, departed Friday last for their homes in Hereford, Texas, after a visit here with their respective parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Howard of Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Flanagan of east of town. Sunday visitors and dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. David Jantz, Norman, were Mr. and Mrs. G.J. Kitchen and Mrs. Frances Stasek and son, Albert, Misses Dorthea, Eural, Ruby and Lena Jantz, all of Moore, and the Misses Louise Pospichal, Veila and Mary Stasek of Oklahoma City. Sunday dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.F. McBride, were Mrs. Lulu Kappan of New Orleans, La.; Mr. and Mrs. Grady Cornett, of Oklahoma City; Mr. and Mrs. Walter McRae, Mrs. E.W. Godwin, Mr. and Mrs. O.W. McBride and Mr. and Mrs. D.F. Almack and son Don Lee. Mrs. H.B. Phillips and Mrs. Anna McNutt were guests of Mrs. L.F. Platt Sunday at the meeting of Schubert Choral club at the First Baptist church in Oklahoma, of which Mrs. Platt is a member. The three ladies were supper guests of Mrs. Walter Baetje, and attended the evening services at Trinity Baptist Church. TAKE A LOOK AT WKY Quite a number of our folks viewed the new studios of WKY in the Skirvin Tower hotel the past week. Among others who went Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Kerlee and daughters Norma Jo and Juniata, Mrs. Minnie Meeks, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fisk, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Varndall, Miss Ruth Armstrong, Miss Ellen Platt, Miss Louise Payne, Miss Dorothy Crockett and Mr. H.B. Martin. Those going Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Dyer, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Dyer and children, Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Kitchen and Mrs. M.S. Jones. Saturdays visitors were Mrs. Ruth Cummings, Mrs. A.B. Campbell, Mrs. L.F. Platt, Mrs. Anna McNutt and Mrs. E.V. Moore. GO TO SINGING MEET Mrs. L.C. Dyer and Mrs. Julia Emery were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Tommy Yeamans in Oklahoma City. In the afternoon they attended the semi-annual singing convention of the Bible Baptist church. ANDERSON BACK ON JOB Superintendent Chester H. Anderson, who was ill all of last week, was on duty again when school opened Monday. He had an attack of influenza.
