All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Body Donated for Research Norman Transcript 15 May 2003 Dennis Allen Dennis Allen, 62, of Norman and formerly of Enid died Tuesday, May 13, at his home. His body has been donated for research. A celebration service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Enid, 401 W. Maine, with Pastor Keith Miller officiating. The family will receive friends until 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall following the service. Mr. Allen was born Jan. 16, 1941, in Enid, to Fred and Mary Lou Allen. He graduated from Enid High School in 1959. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Omaha Baptist Bible College and a bachelor of science in history and education from Phillips University. He received a master’s degree in education and an administrative certificate. He taught Bible history at Enid High School and became assistant principal at Emerson Junior High before returning to Enid High School to teach until retiring in 1994. In addition to teaching, he was a paint contractor until moving to Norman in 1999. He was an active member at First Baptist Church and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church after moving to Norman. He enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible. He had a passion for golf and enjoyed watching and participating in sports. He also was an avid University of Oklahoma fan. He married Jackie in June 1961. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Fred Allen, and his wife’s parents, Pete and LaVerna Lieurance. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughters, Denise Miles and husband, David, of Oklahoma City, Dana Smalling and husband, Don, of Norman and Donna Willige and husband, Jason, of Norman; grandchildren, Kaci Johnson, Jami Hood, Kelsey and Kinsey Smalling and Trey Willige; mother, Mary Lou Allen; sister, Sherry McDowell and husband, Jerry, of Snohomish, Wash.; nieces, Deena and Stephanie; three great-grandchildren; and Jim and Lorene Lieurance and their four children.
