All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery--Norman OK Havenbrook Funeral Home Obituary Catalina “Nena” Alcid Ambre Catalina “Nena” Alcid Ambre, 91, of Norman, Oklahoma, and Lagangilang, Abra, Philippines, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Norman Regional Hospital, Oklahoma. A Rosary evening service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Havenbrook Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Sousa officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M, Monday, May 9, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman, with Reverend Edward Menasco, celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Norman. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Ambre was born November 25, 1913, in Abra, Philippines, to Felix and Susanna Alcid. She was a schoolteacher and homemaker, who raised six children and three grandchildren. She was active in the Catholic church and was known for her philanthropy. The Valentin and Catalina Ambre Scholarship Foundation pays tuition for thirty-five elementary and high school students at Holy Cross School in the Philippines. A chapel in her hometown, built in her honor in 2002, is named for her patron saint, St. Catherine of Sienna. Survivors include her loving husband, Valentin Ambre, of the home; six children, Romeo Ambre and wife, Rosita, Eufrocina Sipin, all of Norman, Dr. Monica Jorque and husband, Kenneth Duane, of Aiken, SC, Cleotilde and husband, Dr. Don Aderhold, of Norman, Elsa Afroilan and husband, Ben, of Oxon Hill, MD and Evella Feldhecker and husband, Keith, of Bradenton, FL; twenty-four grandchildren; many great- grandchildren, the youngest one being Madeline Thompson, age 2, of Norman; Memorial contributions may be made to the Valentin and Catalina Ambre Scholarship Fund, 400 Atterberry, Norman, OK 73071.
