All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Floral Haven Cemetery--Tulsa OK Norman Transcript October 4, 2003 Jo Treece Basden Jo Treece Basden, 73, of Tulsa and formerly of Norman died Thursday, Oct. 2, at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at John Knox Presbyterian Church with Jeffrey K. London officiating. Burial will be at Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa. Moore Funeral Directors in Tulsa is handling arrangements. Mrs. Basden was born July 10, 1930, in Fayetteville, Ark., to James Sherman and Hattie Watts Treece. She married Gene B. Basden July 27, 1952, in Fayetteville. They moved to Norman in 1965 where Mr. Basden was a pilot in the Air Force and later in the Federal Aviation Administration. They raised two children in Norman and moved to Tulsa in 2001. Mrs. Basden was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church and a member and donor to the Oklahoma University Foundation, Inc. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from University of Arkansas in 1952. She taught in Topeka, Kan., Denver, Bossier City, La., and Marietta, Ga. She was a member of several genealogical societies and was a contributing author to several state and county genealogical histories. She was active in the national, Oklahoma and Cleveland County Republican party. Her interests included her home, family, gardening, genealogy and politics. Her greatest joys were her husband, children and grandchildren. Special mention is made of her friends in "Thursday Therapy." Mrs. Basden was preceded in death by her father and mother, James Sherman and Hattie Watts Treece; brothers, Clyde, Garrett and James Sherman Treece Jr.; and grandson, James Kenneth Basden. Mrs. Basden is survived by her husband, Gene B. Basden of the home; sons, Gene Kenneth Basden and wife, Kathy, and David Treece Basden and wife, DeAnna, all of Tulsa; grandchildren, Brittney Ann, David Sterling, Alyssa Treece and Juliet Anastasia Basden of Tulsa; brother, Bob G. Treece and wife, Katherine, of Little Rock, Ark.; and sister, Hattie Lee Gilbreath and husband, Milton, of Fort Smith, Ark.
