Mrs. Bates was born on February 23, 1931. She died on October 5, 2005, in Oklahoma City. ========== The Chickashea Express-Star Friday, 7 October 2005 BARBARA BATES Memorial service for Barbara Bates, age 74, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2005, in the Epworth United Methodist Church, Rev. Kim Domnick will officiate. Barbara was born the daughter of Earl O. Fisher and Elsie A. Solf Fisher on February 23, 1931, in Waynoka, Oklahoma. She died on October 5, 2005, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Barbara moved to Norman at a young age and graduated from Norman High School. She attended Oklahoma University for one year then moved to Dallas where she worked at Love Field. Barbara moved back to Norman and married Robert Bates on August 23, 1952. They lived in Norman until 1963. Barbara and Robert later moved to Chickasha. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. Barbara was also a longtime member of Junior Social Workers and P.E.O. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ruth Alexander and brother, Gene Fisher. Survivors include: Husband: Robert Bates of the home: Son & Wife: Bob & Mita Bates of Ardmore; Son & Wife: Brad & Diana Bates of Chickasha; Son & Wife: Bruce & Jennifer Bates of Chickasha; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
