Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 11, 2005, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City, Kansas, with Pastor Jim Means officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas. Local Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Bettes. was born July 9, 1924 in Taylor, Arkansas, to John Thomas and Viola Minerva Blackburn Smith. She grew up in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She married C.H. "Hank" Bettes in 1940. They moved to Arkansas City, Kansas in 1951 where she resided until 1999. Mrs. Bettes and her husband owned and operated a paint, body and glass store for nine years. "Hank" also worked for Boeing Aircraft for twenty years. "Hank" preceded her in death in February, 1994. In 1999, Mrs. Bettes moved to Wichita, Kansas for three years. She moved to Norman, Oklahoma in 2002, from Arkansas City, Kansas. She was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Arkansas City, Kansas. Mrs. Bettes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two brothers. Survivors include her son, Keith Bettes and wife, Linda, of Wichita, Kansas; three daughters, Joyce Lane and husband, Dale, of Norman, OK, Vickie Petersen and husband, Ray, of Wichita, KS and Delores Woolsey of Wichita, Kansas; one brothers, Cecil Smith and wife, Betty, of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law, Gayle Smith, of Cleveland, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and eighteen great- grandchildren.
