Burgess, 79, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery with Patricia Masterman, deacon of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Burgess was born in Chicago and graduated from Norman, Okla., High School. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Oklahoma. In 1945, she moved to Amarillo. Mrs. Burgess was self-employed in real estate. She was a docent for the Amarillo Art Center and a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and Amarillo Women's Club. She married Edwin B. Burgess Jr. in 1945. He died in 1977. Survivors include a son, Ed Burgess of Leavenworth, Kan.; and two sisters, Eunice Bryden and Lois MacTaggert. The family suggest memorials be to Amarillo Art Center.
