Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Havenbrook Funeral Home with Chaplin William Tomlin of Good Shepherd Hospice officiating. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Lillian was born in Appleton, Wis., Aug. 14, 1911, to William Hoffman and Rose Krell Hoffman. Her father died when she was 4-years-old, and she, her older brother Melvin, and her mother lived with her mother's father, Henry Krell. Her mother remarried and had a daughter with her second husband, Doris Korte Menning. Lillian worked as a secretary for nine years in the law firm of Bradford and Derber in Appleton. She married Alfred S. Bradford April 20, 1939. They were married 34 years. Lillian had two children, Mary and Steve, and she remained at home until they were grown. Then, she became active in a group that raised money to build the Appleton Memorial Hospital in Wisconsin. She helped organize the "pink ladies," volunteers who welcomed visitors to the hospital and did many necessary chores of running a hospital. She was elected president of the Wisconsin State Organization of Hospital Volunteer workers. She also served on the board of directors of the hospital and of Peabody Manor, an assisted living complex. She loved the woods and lakes of Wisconsin, and she and her husband took annual fishing trips to northern Wisconsin and Canada. One year, she won a small, local fishing contest for the largest muskellunge taken in the summer at Big Lake, St. Germaine. She loved to play golf, and she was a member of Riverview Country Club in Appleton. Her husband, Alfred, died in 1973. She continued to be active at the Appleton Memorial hospital. She was a member of several clubs and had many friends. She moved to Norman in 1997 to be close to her son, Steve, his wife, Pam, and her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Alexandra. She found joy in seeing them and being with them. Lillian is survived by her son, Steve of Norman; her daughter, Mary Coble of San Benito, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
