Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Heartland Harvest Church, 3650 East Robinson in Norman, with Reverend Wayne Ray and Reverend Ronnie Harrison officiating. The family will receive visitors from 7:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Fairview Maguire Cemetery, Noble, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Matt Cossey, Josh Cossey, Darin Toliver, Tony Patterson, Shane Gilley, Ben Patterson, Trevor Toliver and Sean Keith. Honorary bearers will be Ray Brumfield, Sr., Grady Cole, Gene Simmons, Orville Hunt, Gerald Monroe and Pat Spaulding. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mr. Cossey was born October 28, 1923, in Norman, Oklahoma to Warren S. Cossey and Jennie Holstein Cossey. He grew up and lived in the Norman area his entire life. Mr. Cossey married Dorene Rogers on April 28, 1941, in Norman, Oklahoma. Jack was saved at the age of 16 in the Pentecostal church in Norman. Jack and Dorene were well known for their ministry in music. They traveled many miles with their children singing in revivals and special services across the state of Oklahoma and other surrounding states. Jack was a deacon and song leader at Symmes Holiness Church (now Heartland Harvest Church) for 30 plus years and was an inspiration to many through his powerful singing voice in worship to the Lord. Even in his latter days when he was no longer able to attend church he continued to sing, blessing the nurses and those who cared for him He was a union carpenter and homebuilder. He loved hunting and raising dogs in his younger life as well as breeding and raising Appaloosa horses. Jack was a great Christian man who never had a bad word to say about anybody. He also was a devout family man always loving his family and putting them first. In his later years he just loved being with his family and enjoying his grandkids and great-grandkids. His children have this message for him, "Dad, what an example and Christian heritage you left us. We will miss you but wouldn't call you back, we'll see you again in heaven." Mr. Cossey was preceded in death by the love of his life Dorene, son, Larry, his parents, brothers, Tilmon, Cecil and Alton and sisters, Mary Lee and Alice. Mr. Cossey is survived by two daughters, Gwen Toliver and husband, Dickie, of Sapulpa, OK and Bonnie Keith and husband, Steve, of Noble; two sons, David and wife, Ramona, of Norman, and Tim of Norman; ten grandchildren, Lisa Patterson and husband, Tony, of Sapulpa, Darin Toliver and wife, Narissa, of Sapulpa, Adrienne Gilley and husband, Shane, of Tulsa, Matthew Cossey, Joshua Cossey and Sarah Hine of Norman, Amelia Keith of Noble, Andrea Keith of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sean Keith and wife, Christy, of Waxahachie, Texas and Christi Burns of Molalla, Oregon; five great-grandchildren, Ben and Lorenda Patterson, Trevor and Courtney Toliver and Nathan Burns. He is also survived by three sisters, Lavern Gordon of Sacramento, California, Imogene Bennett, Ruth McCormick, all of Norman, and one brother, Alva Cossey, of Norman and a host of relatives and friends.
