Memorial services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, in Norman at 10:30a.m., on Monday, June 20, 2005. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Kay was born on November 12, 1942, in Oklahoma City. She attended Harding High School and The University of Oklahoma. She will be remembered fondly by thousands of toddlers and their parents for over 40 years of teaching them a love of music at Hickman Music School in Oklahoma City and Cochran Music Preschool in Norman. Her love of music began at 18 months of age when she first started learning to play the piano. As an adult, she could play 10 different musical instruments, had perfect pitch and could play any music by ear. She was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who never met a stranger and loved animals. We are sure that she has already made friends with "everybody" in Heaven, while cheering for OU sports and cooking a feast. Kay is survived by her daughter Kim Cochran and granddaughter Ashley of Norman; her son Chris Cochran and his wife Mary of Oklahoma City; her sister Jo Tarr and husband John of Edmond and their daughter Kathryn of New York City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Doris Hickman of Oklahoma City, and by her husband, Bill Cochran. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Brookhaven Baptist Church 4301 Country Club Terrace, Norman, OK (For "Kay Cochran Memorial Playground Fund").
