D. 1916 - 2005 J. D. Childs, 88, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at an Arlington care center. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. J. D. Childs was born March 19, 1916, in Millerton, Okla. Mr. Childs was a member of First Baptist Church of Moore, Okla. He was very fond of music and sang in the church choir and men's quartets. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, and was in car sales at one time. He was retired from the Red River Army Depot in Texarkana, Texas, in 1984. Survivors: Wife, Myrtle Childs of Arlington; son, David Childs and wife, Beverly of Arlington; sisters, Joyce Brogden of Seagoville, Gladys Carr of Garland, and Nina Childs of Houston, Texas; grandson, Justin Holland of Bartlesville, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
