All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Sunnylane Cemetery--Del City OK Norman Transcript October 19, 2003 Cecil Merle Clark Cecil Merle Clark, 89, of Purcell died Thursday, Oct. 16, in Purcell. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell, with Dr. Patrick Mead officiating. Burial will be at Sunnylane Cemetery in Del City. Mr. Clark was born Aug. 7, 1914 in Lexington, the fourth of five children born to Will Clark and Bertha Bolding Clark. He grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 1933. While in high school, he played football and baseball. Mr. Clark met Gladys Marie Mace in Oklahoma City and they were married Feb. 3, 1935, in El Reno. They made their home in Oklahoma City until 1942. They moved to Norfolk, Va., shortly after World War II started, and he was a foreman in the shipyards. They returned to Oklahoma City in 1946 and moved to Purcell in 1950. During the late 1950s he served on the Purcell City Council and was mayor for two years. He retired in 1979, built rental property, and helped with family building projects. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and attending his grandchildren's school events. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Berdina Camille Clark, brother Granville Clark, and sisters Irene McDade and Camille Sipes. He is survived by son Merle Clark and wife, Suzanne, of Purcell; daughters Clata Marie Simeroth and husband, Jerry, of Purcell, and Peggy Jean Clark of Edmond; sister Inez Mingling of Norman; grandchildren Phil Clark, Leigh Anne McGregor, Paul Clark, Randy Simeroth and wife, Sandy, Tony Simeroth, Jason Simeroth and wife, Julie, and Robin Hankins and husband, Vern; and seven great-grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Cleveland County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/cleveland/cleveland.html
