Conklin, 85, died Thursday, July 10. She was born July 19, 1917, in Smith Center, Kan., the daughter of Clarence and Fannie Bloomer Brown. She married Lea Worcester in 1935; they divorced in 1951. She married Fred Conklin Oct. 10, 1951. He died on April 1, 1997. Mrs. Conklin grew up in Jennings, Kan., and graduated from Jennings Consolidated High School in 1934. She worked throughout her life. She ran a pheasant farm in Southern California, worked as a waitress and was a grocery checker for many years. She retired after 10 years as a school secretary in Carson City, Nev. She and Mr. Conklin volunteered many hours to the American Red Cross in Norman. Mrs. Conklin is survived by her children, Sharon Cassel of Norman, Larry Worcester of Dodge City, Kan., Caron (Rick) Hatch of Peoria, Ariz., and Charla (Dan) Dean of Ogden, Utah; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson.
