All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Havenbrook FH--Norman OK Norman Transcript 01 Jul 2003 Leon Stanley Ciereszko Sr Leon Stanley Ciereszko Sr., 85, of Norman died Saturday, June 28, in Norman. No services are planned yet. Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman is handling arrangements. Dr. Ciereszko was born July 31, 1917, in Holyoke, Mass., to Albert and Valerie Keller Ciereszko. He graduated from Holyoke High School and received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Massachusetts State College (now the University of Massachusetts). He was awarded a Ph.D. in physiological chemistry at Yale University. He married Esther Martin May 1, 1943, at Broad St. Methodist Church in Philadelphia. They moved to Norman from Champaign, Ill., in September 1948. He was a chemistry and biochemistry professor at the University of Oklahoma for 32 years. He conducted research for almost 50 years in comparative biochemistry of marine invertebrates. Dr. Ciereszko was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Barbacki and Celia Deren; and brother, Alphonse Ciereszko. Dr. Ciereszko is survived by his wife, Esther of the home; son, Leon Stanley Ciereszko Jr. of Miami, Fla.; grandchildren, Leon Stanley Ciereszko III and wife, Sally, of Germany and Thomas Andrew Ciereszko of Jacksonville, Fla.; nieces, Valerie DeGray of New York City, Carolyn Scott of California and Mary Elizabeth Derens of Massachusetts; and nephew, Willam Deren of Princeton, Mass.
